Paalala sa Foot and Mouth Disease

Pinapaalalahanan ang mga Pilipino sa South Korea, lalo na ang mga nakatira malapit o nagtatrabaho sa sektor ng agrikultura, na mag-ingat sa lumalaganap na Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD).
Ang FMD, bagaman napakadalang malipat sa tao, ay nakamamatay. Kadalasang nahahawa ang mga direktang humahawak ng apektadong hayop gaya ng baboy, baka, kambing o kabayo. Maaari ding mahawa sa taong maysakit.
Kasama sa sintomas ang lagnat, singaw sa bibig at pagsuka.
Malaki ang epekto ng FMD sa agrikultura dahil sa bilis nitong pagkalat sa hayop. Kadalasang pinapatay ang daan-daang hayop para maiwasan ang pagkalat nito. Pansamantala ring tinitigil ng ibang bansa ang pag-import ng karne mula sa mga apektadong bansa.
May mga naulat nang FMD sa Cheongju, Gyeonggi, Gimpo at Ganghwa. Huling nagkaroon ng FMD sa South Korea noong 2000 at 2002.

2) Fines for overstaying workers:
- less than a year - exempted from paying the fine
- 1 - 2 years - 500,000 Won
- 2 -3 years - 1,000,000 Won
- 3 - 5 years - 1,500,000 Won
- 5 years & above - 2,000,000 Won
for those who paid the fine - 3 years entry ban
for those who didn't pay the fine - 5 years entry ban

6) BFMC is selling raffle tickets for only 500 Won each. If you're going to buy 10 tickets, you get 3 additional tickets for free. The proceeds will go to our less- fortunate kababayans, Basilica Children's Welfare Foundation, Inc., BFMC fund & BFMC Cooperative.

8) POLO (Philippines Overseas Labor Office) will hold its 3rd Leaders' Forum on Aug. 21, 2010. All FILCOMs are invited to attend. Agenda: Labor Updates, Consular Updates, Cultural Activities, Security & Contingency Measures, 1st POLO-OWWA Invitational Bowling Tournament and FILCOM Trainings for the last semester of 2010.

KOREAN LABOR NEW LAW FOR THE FOREIGNERS (EPS) EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 10, 2009
1. Newly-hired workers – LESS THAN 5 years WITHOUT need to leave Korea.
2. Workers in Korea who are in their first (three year) sojourn period Plus LESS 2 years after the
end of three years WITHOUT need to exit Korea, or a total of LESS THAN 5 years.
3. Re-employed workers in Korea who are in their second sojourn period – the remaining portion of their 3-year sojourn period.
